Home Delivery

What is Home Delivery?

The home delivery service allows patrons to have materials selected and delivered. Recipients must be home or have a household member available to receive the contactless delivery at the scheduled date/time. Deliveries to apartment buildings can be left at the front desk.  Library items will be delivered by a staff member and left outside the door. If no one is home, the items will not be left and the delivery will need to be rescheduled.

Who is eligible for the delivery service?

Delivery is available to South Hadley residents who have health or transportation issues that keep them from the library on a temporary or on-going basis. You must also have an active library card, if you need one or aren’t sure of the account number, we can help you.

What types of materials can be borrowed?

Any item that can be checked out from the Gaylord Memorial Library or South Hadley Public Library can be delivered, these include:

  • Books, large and regular print (adult, children & YA)
  • Audio Books
  • Magazines
  • Movies on DVD/Blu-ray
  • Music CDs
  • Items from other libraries (CWMARS, Commonwealth Catalog, or ILL), although these will take a longer time to arrive

We will pick up your returns when we drop off new items. We can select items for you by title or author, or if you prefer, library staff will select a variety of materials based on your reading interests and preferences. You can also place your own holds and let Gaylord staff know that your items are for delivery.

When can I expect delivery to my home?

Deliveries are scheduled on Fridays between 1 and 3pm. Once your application has been approved, library staff will contact you to let you know when you can expect your first delivery. You can receive delivery other other week, or every month.

Who should I contact with questions or concerns?

The Gaylord Memorial Library staff is available via phone Thursday-Saturday at 413-538-5047. If you wish to reach someone outside of those hours, you may leave a voice message or email Sarah Courtney, Adult Services Librarian at sgcourtney@cwmars.org.
