Homebound Delivery

What is Homebound Delivery?

The homebound delivery service allows patrons to have materials selected and delivered on a monthly basis. Homebound delivery recipients must be home or have a household member available to receive the contactless delivery at the scheduled date/time. Library items will be delivered by a staff member and left outside the door. Due to Covid19, staff members are not allowed to enter the home, but the staff member will stay on the premises (from a safe distance) to be certain items are collected by a household member before leaving. If no one is home, the items will not be left and the delivery will need to be rescheduled.

Who is eligible for the delivery service?

Homebound delivery is available to South Hadley residents who have health or transportation issues that keep them from the library. You must also have an active library card, if you need one or aren’t sure of the account number, we can help you.

What types of materials can be borrowed?

All circulating materials from the Gaylord Memorial Library, these include:

Books, large and regular print (adult, children & YA)
Audio Books
Magazines
Movies on DVD/Blu-ray
Music CDs

Ideally, materials will be delivered and retrieved on the same day. We can select items for you by title or author, or if you prefer, library staff will select a variety of materials based on your reading interests and preferences.

When can I expect delivery to my home?

Homebound deliveries are scheduled on Friday mornings between 10:30-11:30 AM. Once your application has been approved, library staff will contact you to let you know when you can expect your first delivery.
